I was watching the movie ‘Ramanujan’ – the person who knew infinity. I enjoyed the movie. It very well captured history.
One thing that touched me more than Ramanujan was his wife Janaki. She just waited and waited and after his early death at age of 32, she completed her life as a widow.
I was not sensitive to this aspect of gender inequality.
While we all light up our houses, do spend some time today to light a few lamps inside you and sit in silence with your eyes closed…
Light the first lamp inside you and let it burn away your anger and/or jealousy that you may have for any one till date; see it melt away…
Light the second lamp and let it burn away unwanted greed and desires… Feel happy and content with what you have been blessed with.
Light the third lamp and let it fade away all your insecurities that you may have in your mind related to anything or financials. Just believe that God has given you life and he will surely give you enough to survive.
Light the fourth lamp and carry that lamp to each part of your body; let it burn away all your diseased cells or any diseases in making. Feel healthy as this lamp travels to each part of your body and illuminates each organ.
The fifth lamp is a miniature of the sun… Nothing but the divine light… Light it in the centre of your body and let it fill you with its warmth and love inside your whole body… Feel one with the Divine… Let the love and warmth that’s filled inside you ooze out of you through your smile, eyes, speech and body. Carry this love with you throughout the day.
I visited the Brihadeeswarar Temple or the Tanjore Temple near Trichy. Normally, we go on a temple from temple visit but this temple was more of an architectural marvel. In my perspective, it can match the architectural creation of the Taj Mahal since it was created six hundred years before the Taj Mahal.
A few observations
The largest Siva Temple with integrated Brahma and Vishnu structures. The lingam is a monolithic and 29 ft. tall.
Fully constructed without any binding material like cement or its equivalent.
1000 year structure built by granite slabs, cut and interlocked to create this masterpiece.
The nearest quarry of granite stones is over 80 kms. Thus, all granite was transported 1000 years back at that time with the available transportation technologies.
The structure is vertically aligned i.e. the center of the Lingam is perfectly aligned to the center of the top stone, a perfect zero degree. The stone at the very top at 200 ft. weighs 80 tons.
This structure was created in just 6 years in 1010 by Raja Raja Cholan.
Tanjore is famous for its unique gold leaf paintings, music and dance and bronze sculptures.
In all living forms, science has discovered genes – which is the encoding of repeating itself.
Question – Is there something in all living forms that says, “I am different”?
My observation is that ‘I am different’ is not only a characteristic of humans but also in the lowest of the living form – plants.
Each plant has different shapes of leaves. This differentiation is not required for producing food.
A few plants grow vertically and other grow horizontally. This differentiation is not required for survival.
Every flower produces a unique design of flower – from the shape of sepals, petals or arrangement of sepals or petals, even colour patterns are unique. This differentiation is not required for reproduction.
The fruit produced by each plant is unique with different textures and tastes. This differentiation is not required for anything except the ‘nature of giving’.
All of the above 4 elements are not required for repetition or reproduction. Each plant or tree need not express so differently to reproduce themselves which is related to gene theory.
I want to know if there is anyone working on the Theory of being different.
Kishore Moghe is doing a brilliant job in energising self-empowered villages in Yavatmal district. He is closely associated with Mission Samriddhi.
A few observations on his work
Building leadership skills at the village group level.
Educating them on constitutional powers under the forest act.
Forming design teams to understand the village’s resources using scientific methods like satellite pictures of the area (ISRO website), taking large visible printouts and mapping existing resources with potential.
He engages gramsabhas in visioning exercises by conducting large workshops involving the youth as well all the gramsabha.
He helps them prepare a detailed plan with actionable suggestions.
This is a very holistic development of our tribal villages.
I was observing the trees in front of the windows in the morning after the short rains. All the leaves of the trees just had a nice wash. Two parrots flew in and sat on the branches and started enjoying the fruits of the tree. Another Myna flew in and was collecting sticks for her nest from the tree and located a space on the tree itself to create her home.
I have witnessed the calmness of the tree, year on year. I enjoyed its growth over the last 10 years since we shifted our house.
Today, I realised its existence as well as growth is truly selfless, which can be extended to all trees.
Part 2 – Celebrating selfishness
Nature has created the animal kingdom to support plants like earthworms, bees, butterflies, birds etc. They coexist and create a symbiotic and healthy community.
I don’t know at what point in time or why nature has created animals one bigger than the other.
Today, we celebrate animals like the lion. I don’t know why? We know it’s lazy, survives by killing others in the jungle, generates fear in everyone, and does not contribute anything to the forest’s development.
Still we celebrate the brute power of the lion or tiger. What do we enjoy – the pity of the deer, cow or goats?
I don’t know what emotions drive this behaviour of humans?
Have you experienced a situation where someone charges you for staying in your apartment?
Let’s assume a 1000 sqft physical apartment; there is a 1000 sqft of thinking space. Similar to the Physical space, this Thinking space also consists of multiple rooms. You have a room for professional working, room for family, room for friends and relatives, room for individual space and a special room for hurts. The size of each room is determined by your time management of the Thinking space.
Sometimes you don’t realise that the room for ‘hurts’ start growing and starts occupying a much larger proportion of the 1000 sqft of the Thinking space. It consists of a few hurts from your supervisor, a few hurts from friends and relatives and some other hurts from the system and environment. The person who caused the hurts is not even aware that he is occupying a space in your mind. He is staying there without paying a rent and but is charging you of your available and most expensive resource of ‘Thinking space’.
Why do you consciously give space to someone who does not deserve it?
Just forgive and let go.
On Kshmavani (Forgiveness) Day, please forgive me for any hurt I have caused to you in my journey with you.
1. What is the speed of thoughts? A ‘Thought Processor’ works 24 by 7, throughout our life.
2. It requires more energy to stop the Thought Processor. The more you try to stop it, the faster it starts acting.
3. It follows the same ‘Law of Inertia’ defined by Newton. You require frictional force to stop it.
4. Who provides the energy to thoughts?
a. External stimulus – there are five stimuli. Greed and fear constantly feeds the energy to the Thought Processor. The Thought Processor then has the power to keep all other resources like the ‘Memory Processor’, ‘Image Processor, ‘Logic Processor’ and ‘Inference Processor’ engaged. Finally, it gives control to the “Body Action Processing Unit’ for action depends on the decisions taken.
b. Internal stimulus – similarly, it works on the internal stimulus of inspiration and motivation.
c. Stimulus by the soul – once we can stop the ‘Thought Processor’ only then can we connect ourselves to the natural source of Universal Knowledge which resides within our soul. The best example for this is the sun, it is full of energy but the clouds around the sun give us a feeling that there is no sun. As soon as there is a small breakdown of the clouds, the sun’s first impression comes in. ‘Thought Processor’ is nothing but like the clouds which prevent us from going deeper into our immense universal knowledge pool.
