From Organised Data to Computable Knowledge: The Next Foundation for Enterprise AI

RDBMS Organised Data. MSOCK Organises Knowledge.

Fifty years ago, enterprises faced a fundamental problem. They had enormous amounts of data, but it was fragmented and difficult for applications to use. RDBMS changed that. It organised data, established relationships and made data computable. It became foundational to enterprise computing.

Today, AI faces a similar problem – with knowledge.

Banks have decades of knowledge distributed across code, databases, APIs, business processes, policies, regulations, documents and, importantly, people’s minds.
Foundation models are extraordinarily intelligent. But they do not inherently understand these relationships.

AI knows the world. But it doesn’t know your bank.

It may know how to write code. But does it know why a transaction rule was written 12 years ago? Which customer journey depends on a legacy service? Or what else could break if one API is changed?

This led us to a simple thought: RDBMS made enterprise data computable. Can we make enterprise knowledge computable?

That question led our Applied AI Research Lab to build MSOCK – Multi-Dimension, Multi-Layer System of Connected Knowledge.

It connects enterprise knowledge across Business, Operations & Technology, making it connected, computable and visual through a 21D Visual Spatial Graph.

We believe this connected knowledge layer can make foundation models from Anthropic and OpenAI more accurate and context-aware for enterprise use in financial services. We have filed 39 patents covering the technology behind MSOCK. Today, at Global Fintech Fest, we are introducing MSOCK to the world for the first time.

This takes us to the next question.
Intelligence answers “How?”
Wisdom answers “Should?”

For AI to transform a mission-critical bank safely, it needs more than the ability to generate answers. It needs the context to understand the impact of those answers.

That is where I believe Cognitive Engineering begins. And I see an opportunity here that is larger than MSOCK itself.

For four decades, India built a remarkable global technology industry through engineering talent, execution capability and cost advantage.

AI gives India an opportunity to change that operating model – from cost arbitrage to knowledge-led engineering; from exporting capacity to exporting intellect. Can India move from building the world’s software to building the intelligence that transforms it?

I believe we can. MSOCK is our contribution to that journey.

I have shared the thinking behind MSOCK in the Open Letter attached to this post published in The Economic Times today

I would particularly value the perspectives of banking CIOs, CTOs, AI architects, researchers and our technology ecosystem partners as we explore this next operating model together.

If RDBMS became fundamental to the data-driven enterprise, can connected knowledge become equally fundamental to the AI-governed enterprise?
