Learning about self-image

We use 3 words synonymously – self-image, self-belief and self-confidence but they have their unique meanings.
#1 Self-belief – provides the decision matrix for good or bad
#2 Self-confidence – absence of fear
#3 Self-image – visual image of ‘what I want to see myself in this world’

Among the top 3, it’s self-image that drives your behaviour, the learning capacity and decision making capabilities, which in turn is an indicator of high performance.

Our Human Resource processes focus on skill development rather than changing self-image. Once self-image is changed, the person will acquire the needed skills himself.

Polaris handedover to Virtusa

Today, I passed on the baton of Polaris Consulting and Services business to Virtusa by signing a definitive agreement with them.

It was an important moment in my life and the lives of many members of the Polaris family. This decision will provide a much larger platform for our associates to perform and customers can enjoy the benefits of the scale.

This move will provide a lot more time for me to focus on driving Intellect as well social impact programs.

Thanks a lot for all your support in this journey.

The power of simplicity

Nature has just 4 elements – carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. Plants use just 3 elements and the energy of sunlight to create glucose. Animals consume glucose and release carbon dioxide.

So many variants of life (products) have been created using just 4 elements. This is the simplicity of nature at its peak.

To design something highly self-propelling, we need to search for that simplicity.

Attention Seeking Behaviour – ASB

a lot of us spend more time in attention seeking over contribution making. Attention Seeking Behaviour starts from childhood when we start trying to impress our parents and parents start rewarding this behaviour.

This behaviour continues when we go to school, where we want our teachers’ attention or our peer group’s attention.

This process continues in to our first job, marriage, and on and on…

Most of the time, it does not stop because we never look in the mirror or ask the simple question – What makes me happy?

The journey begins after responding to this simple question.

A flower

How do each petals of a flower know how much to grow and when to stop growing? The beauty of the flower comes from when the petals of the inner circle decide not to grow beyond a particular size.

The beauty of effective human teams (including families) comes not only from ‘when to say’ but also ‘when not to say’.

The power of simplicity – 4 different perspectives

  1. “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” – Leonardo DaVinci
  2. “Life is amazingly good when it’s simple and amazingly simple when it’s good.” – Terri Guillemets
  3. The sculptor produces the beautiful statue by chipping away such parts of the marble block as are not needed — it is a process of elimination.” – Elbert Hubbard
  4. The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.” – Hans Hofmann
